TOURING - ONLY IN ENGLAND: PHOTOGRAPHS BY TONY RAY-JONES AND MARTIN PARR

The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge is hosting the touring exhibition Only in England: Photographs by Tony Ray-Jones and Martin Parr, a major exhibition showcasing these two significant photographers.

The exhibition features over 100 works drawn from the Tony Ray-Jones archive at the National Media Museum alongside 30 rarely seen early black and white photographs, The Non-Conformsits, by Niagara photographer Martin Parr.

PORTLAND 2016: A BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY ART

Niagara's Michelle Grabner has curated Portland 2016: A Biennial of Contemporary Art, presented by Disjecta Contemporary Art Centre.

The exhibition taps into the punk rock spirit of the regional artists represented in a sprawling display of contemporary sculpture, installation and painting across multiple locations.

MIDWINTER MASTERS: THE ORDINARY INSTANT - BAYSIDE ARTS AND CULTURAL CENTRE

Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre presents Midwinter Masters: The Ordinary Moment, featuring over 50 works by Niagara artist's Clarice Beckett alongside contributions from seven contemporary women artists.

The exhibition explores the power that art has to make the ordinary extraordinary.

RMIT Gallery presents Quiddity, an exhibition that draws attention to a collection's life when it is not on display.

Including work by Niagara artist, Stephen Benwell, the exhibition takes a behind-the-scenes look at the RMIT University Art Collection from the perspective of the conservator or registrar rather than the artist or curator, exploring works with materials, taxonomy, provenance, condition, and storage in mind.

A FINE LINE - DRAWINGS FROM THE COLLECTION

Gippsland Art Gallery presents A Fine Line featuring drawings by prominent Australian artists including Niagara's Euan HengKevin Lincoln and Jan Senbergs.

The exhibition seeks to showcase drawing not just as a preparatory practice but as a powerful medium in and of itself.

PARRTIFICIAL - MUSEU DA IMAGEM E DO SOM

The Museu da Imagem e do Som, São Paulo, Brazil, presents a major retrospective of photographs by Niagara artist, Martin Parr, the largest ever held in South America.

Consisting of seven themed parts, Parrtificial showcases Parr's fascinating photographic depictions of life around the world.

HIKOHIKO - PAPAKURA ART GALLERY

Papakura Art Gallery presents Hikohiko, a collaborative exhibition between Niagara artist, Star Gossage and her sister Aroha Gossage.

The title Hikohiko refers to the twinkling of stars as the exhibition coincides with Matariki, when the rising of the Pleiades constellation signals the beginning of the new year for Māori people.

REFRAMED - INCINERATOR GALLERY

Niagara artist, Dianne Jones is featured in Reframed at Incinerator Gallery, Moonee Ponds.

The exhibition explores the role Aboriginal Australian artists are playing in reconstructing accepted ideas about history, connection to country and identity through photographic processes.

PANORAMA - TARRAWARRA MUSEUM OF ART

Part two of Panorama, presented by TarraWarra Museum of Art, includes work by Niagara artists Jan Senbergs and Ken Whisson.

The exhibition explores how artists see the landscape and includes painting, drawing, photography, film and seismic images.

EVENTIDE - MORNINGTON PENINSULA REGIONAL GALLERY

Niagara artists, Helen Wright and Euan Heng are featured in Eventide, the current exhibition at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery.

The exhibition features 31 leading Australian printmakers who each consider the transitional period of 'eventide' - where day meets night - through the exacting medium of relief printmaking.
