Paul Boston

“quiet, magnificent work.” WH Chong, Daily Review, 2018

Paul Boston investigates illusion and materiality through his abstract paintings and drawings. Utilising a muted palette and with an emphasis on negative space, the geometric forms of Boston’s paintings serve to confuse barriers and perception and unravel over time.

Born in 1952, Paul Boston graduated from art school in 1972. Following his studies, he travelled extensively through South-East Asia, where he developed an ongoing interest in Zen philosophy, which is one a host of subjects that inform his work. Paul Boston's work is included in the collections of all major Australian public galleries and a number of important private and corporate collections overseas. Boston currently lives and works in Melbourne.
